VSTEP specializes in developing simulators for education in the maritime sector. A complicated product, how do you best present this on your website? JKC took up the challenge together with VSTEP. Find out more about the positioning and other components in the development process.
A professional flight simulator for ships
"VSTEP has been around for more than twenty years. We produce software and hardware for education at maritime organizations," says Brand Manager Tania Bozheva. Think of it as a kind of professional flight simulator, but for ships, adds Marketing Team Lead Walid Assal. "The maritime sector is incredibly large, with training and enlistment as a key component. VSTEP provides the option to learn through simulations."
The website is one of the first points of contact for customers, Tania explains. "That's why it's important to get that look right. We were looking for a party that could help us with that." After a recommendation, the company came to JKC. "We contacted Justin and we got a good impression right away."
Much more complex than a lipstick
The functionality of a website, such as speed, is one of the most important goals, while the visual design must also remain attractive. Tania: "We wanted a party we could rely on for an effective migration, and with JKC that went successfully." Furthermore, the news articles are very important to VSTEP, as they want to position themselves as experts within the market. "The structure has to promote reading time, as this increases your chances of getting a lead."
VSTEP's products are very visual and complicated. "It's not comparable to selling, say, a lipstick, which is simpler to position and easier to understand," Tania points out. "A simulator is a complex product, with different types and audiences. Together with JKC, we sat down to determine the best positioning and presentation." One example is the display of the simulator, where you can hover over all the elements for the name and explanation. "That's a good way to show what we do without making it too complex but grabbing the attention."
